Unpacking Implicit Bias and Microaggressions
This experiential workshop will help participants understand what implicit bias is, how it shows up for all of us, and what the implications are in our lives, both personally and professionally. This series of exercises will take participants on a learning path of understanding where bias starts, how it manifests in our lives, how microaggressions play out and the implications for those experiencing them, and what keeps implicit bias in place in organizations, institutions, and systems. We will then examine how socialization contributes to the development and perpetuation of biases which lead to microaggressions. The session will end with tangible strategies for how to address implicit bias and microaggressions as they arise.
