Ayumi Nagano Durden, Project and Data Specialist
Ayumi Nagano Durden (she/her) has a B.A. in Sociology from Binghamton University, and a Masters in Special Education from Long Island University - Brooklyn Campus through the NYC Teaching Fellows. With both global and domestic work experience, she started her professional career teaching abroad in Japan in both the private and public sectors. Being raised in New York led Ayumi back to teach in Brooklyn where she instructed Quantitative Research and AP Computer Science Principles. She was also the Head Coach of her high school Cross Country and Track teams. She is currently based in Charlotte, NC, where she taught NC Math 1.
Ayumi started working with kids as a camp counselor. It was then that her passion to guide and support youth to achieving success started, and hasn't stopped since. Having worked with numbers for the majority of her 14 years in the classroom, Ayumi became certified as a Data Analyst. Her extensive teaching experience combined with her love of data brought her to become a Project & Data Specialist.
